Open Access

The Pakistan Journal of Nutrition provides researchers with a variety of publishing options, allowing them to choose reputable open-access routes supported by a thorough peer-review process. All articles are published online immediately upon acceptance, with no fees for readers or institutions. This ensures that any user may freely read, download, copy, share, search, or link to full-text articles without needing additional permission from the journal or authors.

Benefits of Open Access Publishing

1. Free and Immediate Access
All articles published in PJN are freely available online immediately upon publication. Anyone can read, download, and share our articles without a subscription or payment.

2. Author Rights and Licensing
Authors retain the copyright to their work. Upon acceptance, they grant PJN the right to publish and distribute the article. We apply a standard open license allowing users to copy, distribute, and display the work, provided the original authors and source are properly credited.

3. Article Processing Charge (APC)
To support free access for readers, PJN charges a publication fee. Details of the current APC are listed on our website and cover peer review, editing, publication, and archiving services.

4. Reuse and Sharing
Readers and authors may share published articles (in full or in part) for non-commercial purposes without seeking additional permission, as long as the original article, authors, and journal are clearly cited. For any commercial or derivative use, users must contact PJN for permission.

5. Version Self-Archiving (Green Option)
Authors may share accepted manuscripts (before final formatting) in personal or institutional repositories immediately after acceptance. The published version (formatted PDF) may be shared on personal or institutional websites no earlier than 12 months after publication.

6. Permanent Preservation
All articles, including final versions and metadata, are securely archived in the Portico, a reliable digital repository to ensure preservation and long-term access.

7. Deposit in Repositories
PJN deposits published articles in reputable, long-term digital archives. Authors are encouraged to do the same with accepted or published versions, following the sharing timelines described above.
