Abstract

There have been several new improvements in the wastewater treatment field in the last years. Alternatives have presented themselves for classical and conventional wastewater treatment systems. Advanced wastewater treatments have become an area of global focus as individuals, communities, industries and nations strive for ways to keep essential resources available and suitable for use. Advanced wastewater treatment technology, coupled with wastewater reduction and water recycling initiatives, offer hope of slowing, and perhaps halting, the inevitable loss of usable water. Chemical oxidation processes for removal of color and oxygen demand from textile mill effluent, sequential anaerobicaerobic biological treatment recalcitrant and inhibitory organic compounds in ammunition plant wastewaters, separation and recovery of organic solvents from mixed industrial waste streams, remediation of contaminated subsurface waters, membrane treatment of effluents from secondary biological wastewater treatment plants, and integrated bio-membrane treatment of industrial and municipal wastewaters. This paper covers all advanced methods of wastewater treatments and reuse.
